The original variety of non-heading type cabbage also known as Southern or Creole, this kind grows up to 2 ˝ feet tall producing broad, crumpled leaves. Very popular in the South and growing in popularity in other regions. It is grown for its succulent and juicy leaves that have a mild cabbage-like flavor. May be planted in mid-summer for a late fall crop. The flavor is improved after frost.
